ACW-Childcare

I am pleased that you have chosen, or are interested in, this program for your childcare needs. I have a great responsibility for the health, safety, care and instruction of your child. You, of course are the primary focus for your child; but for during the day and for many hours, I am the support to whom they come, look to and depend upon. I take this role very seriously, both as a professional in childcare and as a way of life .I provide quality childcare in a loving home environment for children from 6 weeks to 8 years old or thru the second grade. At A Child’s World your children are allowed to be children, have endless discoveries, enjoy lots of fun play, I will even assist and encourage each child’s abilities and skills throughout every stage of their development. Your child will have a safe, clean, healthy place to grow and learn. As children learn through play I try to provide many opportunities for them to "discover" things about the world they live in.

Children are really very bright and need to be treated as special little individuals with much to share and as each child brings a new and exciting personality to my daycare I will try to help nurture it with socialization skills, guide them in areas where they may need guidance and teach them everything that they are able to learn during the time they are in my care.

It is important that we are in agreement concerning the following sections in this parent handbook and all my policies and procedures in this handbook are100% understood with no concerns or questions left unanswered. So please read thru it and feel free to communicate with me any concerns that you are uncomfortable with or do not understand. This handbook was put together to prevent conflict and ensure resolutions, it will familiarize you with the policies and procedures, daily routines, and educational activities of ACW program so please don’t skip any parts of this handbook and be sure that you understand all areas, and don’t hesitate to ask any questions about any material that you may find to be unclear as I would rather answer your questions then have one of us become upset with the other or have a terminated contract because you didn’t understand something that I could have answered for you or resolved for you without despair.

Arrival and Departure

Early Departure

If you have more then one child registered in care and you need to pick one of them up for any reason then you will be required to take all children that are registered in ACW Childcare with you. I'm sorry if this is an inconvenience but it is required because once your child has seen you they will most likely become upset and disruptive for the remaining time in care and or be disruptive to the property of ACW.

Visitation

I would love to welcome visits at anytime from parents and grandparents however if you visit your child at any time during the day then you will be required to take your child with you if they become upset when you go to leave or after they realized that your gone you may be required to pick them up if they can not be calmed down.

Anyone picking up or leaving with a child from visitation will need to be approved by a parent guardian. Please see Arrival and Departure for more information.

Changes

Families frequently have changes - new homes, new jobs, and new telephone numbers so please keep me informed and up to date with accurate information as it could be critical in the event of an emergency. You are required to inform me if you are at any other location than what is listed on your Enrollment Form and to provide a telephone number for that place as well as a cell phone number if you have one. If you are going to be home for the day and not at work then I will also need to know that so I can call you at home instead of work.

Child Abuse/Neglect

I'm required by law to call Child Protective Services or the local law enforcement if it appears that your child has been neglected or abused in any form including drinking and driving with your children will be reported to the local law enforcement (police station). So don't try to pick them up if you have been drinking.

Children With Disabilities

If your child has special needs I will do the best that I can so that your child will feel comfortable in every activity or games being played at ACW However if your child is to much for me to handle and I feel that I can't provide the proper care that your child needs then you will be asked to relocate to a more suitable facility so that your child and other children's safety will not be put at risk.

Children’s Absences

Please inform me as soon as possible if your child will be absent or late as this will allow me to prepare snacks and activities for all the children appropriately, however if you are not at my childcare facility by your contracted time or have not stated that you will be arriving later then your normal time then I may not be here to care for your children as we may have decided to have a play date or go on an outing that day so this could mean that you would not have childcare that day and plans have been made for the children that are in my care. Also there would be no refunds or adjustments made to your childcare fee for your time missed do to any of the following: illness, holidays, vacation or days off etc. as your space is reserved for your child and cannot be filled on a short-term basis you will be required to pay the amount agreed to in your contract and no less.

Attendance

In ACW Childcare, you pay per “position”, which means that the position is held just for your child and is not based on attendance nor can it be filled on short notice, so you pay your child’s tuition whether they are in care or not.

ACW Pre-School will follow Anne Arundel County for closed days, inclement weather delays or dismissals. Please watch the local news for updated information and visit www.aacps.org  to stay updated on this information. This means that you will not have childcare when AACPS is closed and all tuition will still need to be paid for closed dates except Thanksgiving week tuition is waved for the 5 day holiday break. No Summer care will be provided.

 School Age Rates:

ACW is sorry to announce that as of June 2009 ACW will not provide care for children in grades 3 – 6 and will not provide summer care to non-napping children in Kindergarten 2nd grade.

This decision has been a difficult one, but is being implemented to better support the needs of all of our children.  Many age differences represent a significant challenge when younger children must nap, and older children disrupt their sleeping patterns.  It is unfair to expect older children to nap when they are not in the habit of doing so, and equally unfair to deny napping children the rest that they require and due to the noise naturally caused by the appropriate play of older children during nap time.

As an alternative, ACW recommends Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks program for both school-age childcare and summer camp.  The program offers supervised activities at age-appropriate levels, and allows school age children an opportunity to play with children in their own age groups.  The program will start enrolling in March and April of this year and spaces are limited, so please plan early to ensure your child has a space in the program of your choice.  Program opportunities can be found online at:

http://www.aacounty.org/index.cfm

(Kindergarten, 1st. Grade –2nd. Grade only)
